Wayfinding Navigation

 Talofa lava,

Today I´m going to teach you an amazing millennial knowledge of my

Polynesian ancestors:

Wayfinding navigation. Back in the days there were no modern

instruments like: A GPS, Google maps and a compass. They used birds,

waves/currents, the position of the sun & the moon, wind and stars.

Birds would help them by whatever direction they are going in is the

way to land . The currents direct them to land by the way that the

currents are moving going is the to land.

Matariki,

Matariki is a star cluster that also helps the navigators sailing. How you would recognise it? Look for a 9 stars cluster, a constellation.

Exquisite Sentence!

  Talofa lava Bloggers!

Yesterday we were learning about Space. I wrote a lot of sentences and out of those, these were my favourite ones:

  •  I like the Milky Way. It's a galaxy that Earth is inside. There are different types of sizes and shapes of galaxies but most of them are a circle. It's like a big blanket covering the earth.

NZ Sign language week!

 Talofa lava!

This week is New zealand sign language week!. Our teo reo teacher (Papa jarrod) came and taught us how to learn sign language in maori. He taught us how to say Aotearoa, whanau and Kia roa,and we also learnt how to spell out our names in sign language.

What I enjoyed was learning how to spell my name in sign language but in teo reo. What I found challenging was learning at first because papa jarrod was going to fast but then he went slower so it got less challenging.
